First card, First Adventure.

This was technically the 2nd card we drew. The first, though sounded fun, needed to be reserved, and you couldn’t do that the day of without a phone call. And I hate phones calls. So 1st lesson learned, either be flexible, or draw the card a day or two prior so you can make online reservations. :)

The activity was to rent a bike and bike around Buffalo Bayou Park near downtown. With the bonus activity of having a picnic in the park. If you have your own bikes, you could do this on the the cheap for sure. It cost us about $40 to rent a couple bikes for 2 hours. Since we pulled this card before going grocery shopping, we snagged some items from the store for our picnic.

We biked the greater loop around the park, about 6 minutes in total. While possible to go further, you are really leaving the park at that point IMO. The weather was absolutely perfect for riding. Mid-70’s, cloudy, with a slight breeze. Didn’t even sweat till near the end with the sun started breaking through.

We stopped several times to check things out. Kinda wish we had brought our bike locks to give us some more exploration time without worries about the bikes. We snacked on our “picnic” on a concrete wall near a water feature.

Nothing about this activity was groundbreaking or “bucket list” worthy, but it was fun. My wife and I enjoyed the hours we spent together, doing something we might not have chosen to do normally.

Cost: $50 (bike rental plus picnic items.)

Rating: 3

Hot take: My expectations are now set. Don’t expect true bucket list stuff. But I still love the cards. I can never really decide on something to do. These, I treat them as directives. And if I can do them, I will. Remove that executive decision paralysis.
